Just a little off-topic, but... I found this in Marshall's today:

Re: Cold start

It was the batteries. I went to another place and they were testing 200 & 90 out of 600 each, so now after replacing them I am back in business. Thanks for your advice Chuck and all.

Re: Cold start

Awesome Chuck! block.jpg I do not have the means at hand to install a new one on my own and the trick now is just starting so I can drive it to a shop. The extension cord I am using says 125 volts, is that a problem? Today I was able to get it to start again by jumping, but not on it's own. Batterie...

Re: Cold start

The wire was open and bad, so I replaced it and tightened loose battery connectors but still no results. It looks like I need to replace the heater element.
I appreciate your patience with my novice; cheers

Re: Cold start

So- the two previous owners lived in California and Washington, so I should not be surprised they never used or even had a clue about the block heater or why it looks like this: blkhtrplug.jpg Can I clean this up with a little spit and polish or do I need to replace it with a new one? I still can't ...

I always wanted one, and I want to drive this one the rest of my life. The state you are wondering about is... wait for it- Washington.

Re: Cold start

This is my truck's first Wyoming winter, single digits all week and it won't start. I read this thread and got a fuel additive, but on the subject of block heaters: do I need to have one installed, or would a simple magnetic one do the trick?

Merry Christmas gentlemen.

Re: 2-Piece wheels/beadlocks/runflats

That is not the cost of the tire, just to do the labor. Yikes- I need to move to the less civilized parts. A one man garage called Bowman Transmission in Mountain Home, Idaho mounted my Wrangler MT on a 12-bolt beadlock wheel for $150. All the chain establishments are afraid of liability, and of co...

Re: 2-Piece wheels/beadlocks/runflats

Okay good information, thank you both.

I would like to stay close to mil-spec, so I can use commonly available parts. Today I talked to my motor pool sergeant- once I get a good hands-on, I feel better about working on wheels and tires myself.

Re: Signal cams & cruise Control

My turn signal/cruise control lever broke: IMG_20150710_194513_104.jpg -the gobs of epoxy and silver screw are evidence the previous owner took the matter into his own hand. Will this different part be compatible with my 2000 year model? https://www.real4wd.com/zedSuite/catalog/partdetail.aspx?partn...

Re: 2-Piece wheels/beadlocks/runflats

I cannot find a shop that will work on beadlock wheels in the Tacoma Washington area. Can anyone recommend a place or person?
Cheers
