Solving the hideous CD changer problem..Pics

Post by Tom » Wed 03 Dec , 2008 9:03 am

Well, as many of you I can't stand the location of the cd changer, or its purpose these days. I replaced my factory cd player with a Nav screen w/ a hard drive unit and then needed to remove the cd changer. Since I could not find any replacement pockets of glove boxes, I had to make my own.

I just simply removed the cd changer, gutted the insides of it, and put it back together as just a box. Cut out the proper carpet, sprayed the carpet with glue and went to town.

Here are the results:

I like that idea. I just left the cd changer in to plug the hole.

Here is a shot of the backup camera install. the bracket not only has double sided tape on it, but I pinched the metal of it with the clearance lamps of the hummer.

Oh and no. definitely not plug and play. I had to cut both headlight trays to get them to fit. But, the unit is a completely sealed unit.. meaning the trays were useless anyways.

yes, first you need to tape your iphone to the back of your car. Then, set up a complex assortment of mirrors so that you can view your iphone from the drivers seat, if you need to switch camera to gps, it would be smart if you pulled over first.

I bought a dash pocket from hummer parts guy about a year ago and it looks really nice. I also could not stand that cd player. If anyone is interested check it out. Its looks pretty sick... personally I like it better than the carpet idea but im a little fussy when it comes to that stuff.
