Upper ball joints (rear)

Post by lennybondi » Sat 28 Apr , 2012 7:58 pm

I am changing my upper and lower rear ball joints and the two lowers came right off of each side, the uppers are a different story, I can't bang on them with a hammer from the bottom because the axle shafts are in the way. I've been using a pickle fork with a air hammer tool and can't get it to budge. Does anyone know any tricks or tips on how to remove these stubborn upper ball joints, your suggestions and or help with this would be greatly appreciated, thanks Lenny.....

No real tricks. Heat, forks, Large hammers, air tools.

You might want to pick up a new A-arm just incase you destroy the original one.

thank you for your suggestion, I ended up making a tool and they came off so easy after trying a slide hammer, pickle fork, and air hammer, I appreciate your time in helping me out in with this, regards Lenny...

I would like to see the tool you made to get the ball joint off. Please post a picture of it.
