C-Series Update

Post by Matthew » Fri 01 Nov , 2013 9:46 am

Hey Guys-

I was curious if anyone knew what was up with the C-series kits? Have they been released yet and anyone have one? The site says they would be out in the spring, but figured I would have seen one complete and up for sale on either ebay or at one the the popular H1 shops.

Anyone out there know what the deal is?

Thanks

still 60k without powertrain.

NOTE: The HUMVEE C-Series DOES NOT Include a Powertrain (Engine, Transmission, Transfercase and Drive Shafts)

I think a all new turn key, road ready product would cost est 80k-100k ... "I would love to have one" ... but for that price, one might as well pick up a H1 street queen.

The H1's are so over built a good street queen will give most owners a million miles of unforgettable, fun seat time.

Exactly, that's why I think the market for these is really going to be small. Maybe some collectors or people with lots of extra money who want to build a custom car. I once looked at building a kit car. When you really look at all the parts you need and what they cost, you realize why so many people who start one of these projects end up selling it because it just got too expensive.

finding clean Hummers is getting harder and harder. Many trucks have had multiple owners that didn't have the money and knowledge to keep them in repair. Many trucks are now sold by these so called "exotic" used car dealers that don't know what they're selling and don't fix them up right. Many put on cheap aftermarket wheels and tires. Whenever I see a truck with incorrect wheels I immediately take 5k off the price. Here's an article I wrote about one of these trucks.

to ad: some ppl think molesting a Hummer is upgrading (lift, big tires, wrong wheels, etc.). there is no way, that IS upgrading.
and unfortunately its is also getting harder to find stock trucks.

the HUMVEE-C, would get one in a heartbeat. It is not overpriced for what one gets. Lets really hope for AMG that they get that contract, may be then it will happen.....

Also note that I do not think the kit comes with wheels and tires. So that should be another nice upgrade fee.

I would see it being more cost effective to modernize an older model than buying this kit. Taking the 1997.5-1998 and adding a new power plant, like a Cummins 12V, would be my preference.

I have always wonder what the engine swapped trucks (Cummins or Duramax) actually sell for. They are always listed for top dollar, normally $90K+ asking price. I just dont see people paying that, especially when the conversions look to start around 15-20K.

OK someone has to have seen one if they were out. So is AMG not moving forward with this idea/kit then?

Anyone know?

When I emailed them last week, this is what they responded with.

At this time there is no new information as to if, or when they may start making the Humvee*C. There is also no information has to what styles if any, they will be making in the future. I would continue to watch the web site for information. Along with that pricing and parts availability are still unavailable.

it Would have been nice, but many of other options available.

one might be better off buying a clean, un abused garage queen. The H1 is so simple to work on you can have it back to new condition very quickly.

Buy a used rig and change out the interior to look like a alpha?

i attached a couple good looking rigs from one of the on line traders ... "no affiliation"
