Replace Monsoon Radio Article

Post by j-paa » Wed 07 Oct , 2009 10:27 am

Hi Chuck,

Just wanted to let you know of a minor error in your "Replace Your Monsoon Head Unit" article...

I have an '00 HMC-4 and replaced the head unit last night. The truck-side harness was not a GM radio harness, but the VW/DIN style connector (part no. 70-1784) for power, ground, illumination, amp trigger, speaker outputs, etc... There were also a couple of plugs that (I presume) are for the rear seat audio connections, which aftermarket head units obviously will not support...

The KB article indicated that pre-'01 trucks all used the GM connector... Based on my personal experience, I'd have to say the connector change was sometime in 2000. :D

Thats so funny.

I have to keep reminding myself that our H1's are painted HMMWV's
