electrical connector cleaning

Post by h1sp » Sat 28 May , 2011 12:10 pm

Just completed (seems like) my annual electrical connector cleaning.

I pull apart as many connections, check for corrosion, clean and / or “replace” if needed.

I still wonder how did a rusty bolt get on this rig? Oh well, “replace it”

Got me a taste of some aggravation this past weekend. A 15 minute job took about 1 hr.

The door lock actuator busted. I needed a pair of mini monkey hands for the repair.

Still love the H1 hummer. I would never have tried to tackle this job with any other vehicle. Dealership would charge 350.00 and 3 day drop off / pick up on other cars.
This part cost 35 dollars and 1 hr of time in my garage. I had to file a bit on the new power switch bezel and everything went back better than new.

Small price to pay for such a fun ride to roll in.

We had a H1 meet at a local Coffee and Cars 5.5.12

And I must say, This was the most H1’s I have ever seen at one location.
Maybe a record for Houston?

It was a sight to see. The crowd love them all. All the Rigs looked amazing.

I took so many pictures of people taking pictures No way can I post them all.

Enjoy a few:

Looks great. It's good to know that Hummers aren't dead. I doubt there are enough total trucks left in IL to make a meet like yours happen.

Nope, the H1 Hummer isn’t dead.
Due to the current economic trends, I also wouldn’t say the H1 is having a rebirth.

I am noticing more positive attention towards the H1.

It does seems like owners are taking pride in ownership (as they always have) keeping the rigs fresh, clean, maintained well. This helps hold the value.

I have noticed the KBB value is slowly increasing and some companies are buying, remarketing and flipping the H1’s for a cool profit.
Financing is very much still available at some fantastic rates. WAC.

As far as buying and enjoying a dependable, unique, and easy to work on exotic vehicle under 70k, choices are limited. Im not talking about the 2006 Alpha that can still pull down a cool 150k

I know of one H1 in our area that will be sent to Africa next week. The new owner paid about 30k over what I would have paid. “Highest bidder wins every time”

The H1 is very much alive and well.

"Better get yours today while supplies last."

Houston Coffee and Cars 7/7/12

* We ended up with a nice group of 6 rigs this time.

I keep forgetting many people haven’t seen the H1 up close. In a hour and a half I took 179 photos of people taking pictures of our rigs. “Fun Stuff”

With only 12,000 rigs ever released, 2006 (6 years ago) the end of production and many of us having 1 of very few built (color and model), I encourage the H1 owners to roll into a local car show, chat it up and make some new friends.

* Just a few of the pics

“Good clean fun”
