Great Shots….

To you see your Truck go from Garage Queen to FULL BLOWN, HARD CORE 4 Wheelin is defiantly inspiring.

Its making me feel bad….. kind of like I have a hunting dog and I wont allow him to go hunting…… so he just sits and looks out the window all day. :(

Pappy: The going critical shot is a well know obstacle in Moab. There have been many trucks or jeeps (no hummer I know of) that have rolled end over end down such trails. I can't remember what this part of the trail was called. Basically a V shaped rut on a steep downhill. If you don't keep each tire on the walls of the rut, you slip and fall against the one wall with the side of your truck. I watched an H2 come up a similar obstacle, get a front wheel high in the air, and just about rolled over backwards before the spotter got her to stop and correct her angle. That was a close one!

H1sp: When I was new to Hummer ownership, I used to get chided a lot until I got more into offroading. I was driving "my house" so to speak, so I was trying to take good care of it. But going out with other owners was just to much fun for me, the kids, the whole family. I converted to the "way of the dirt." It changed my life, and gave me a better circle of friends in the process. Guess, I'm sort of a "missionary" for the lifestyle.

There is a new owner in my neighborhood I recently met that has a 2000 grey wagon. He says he rarely drives it even on the road and (like me at one time) has no intention of ever taking it off the pavement. His truck looks like it just came off the showroom floor and has less than 15k miles on it. He doesn't know other owners and I don't think he is on any forums, either. Hopefully, I can invite him out on an easy excursion to get his feet "wet".

And some day, I will repaint my truck, like Chuck did. And for a time after that, I will be more finicky about how it looks. But until then, it will be Fun, Fun, Fun! :)

Keith,
Nice looking rig. The 'V' shaped hill you talked about at Moab is called the Gates of Hell and they are on the Hells Revenge Trail just on the otherside of Lions Back. There is a steep undulating hill into a gully, a short sand wash then the steep 'V' to get out. It's cool!

Yeah, I did that. Very nice obstacle with a good degree of "pucker" factor.
A woman driving an H2 on Gates of Hell came very close to tipping over backwards end over end because she didn't follow the guide's instructions. He stopped her in the nick of time and got her out of what would have been a catastrophic jam.
