Rich's 04 Wagon

Post by Rich » Sun 08 Apr , 2007 8:46 pm

I haven't really had it long enough to have great off-road pics yet but here's a few of my 04. The truck looks black but it's more of a dark charcoal metal flake in person.

Today I added a rack and some lighting on the brushguard.

I will take my time building this one. I built my H2 too fast and while it was okay, I later saw things I would have done differently.

I have to post one of my H2. I loved this rig. Miss it somewhat. :(

Yep - long drive for her maiden voyage.

This 1st and 3rd shot are broken arrow and the center one is greasy spoon. Sedona is one of the most beautiful places I have seen outside of Yosemite. I plan to return soon.

I got married on Broken Arrow trail just past the big rock climb that keeps cars out. Was supposed to be Submarine Rock, but hit a snafu getting 90 people out there quick enough.

H1 and H2 very nice. H2 looks loaded, what would you have done differently?

First I think I would have done a bumper winch. The mobility of the of the one I had was nice but I never did use it at the rear bumper and it was a pain to remove everytime I had to open the hood.

The Weld rims I had on it were no good either. They looked nice but took alot of off-road damage. The best option is the stock rims. I would have just powder coated them black and put on 37's rather than sticking with 35's.

The gobi rack. I would have not had the tire rack up there. Between that and the sunroof opening in the rack - there wasn't enough storage up there for extended trips. I also would have used better lighting than the PIAA 520's.

The rig itself was a lux/adventure package. I would have bought a base model. The base model has a rear locker and UCP - the only real add on to the adventure model was air suspension which just added something to fail and I never once used it for it's intended purpose other then the onboard compressor for airing back up. The lux option was just chrome.

With the H1 I was very specific what I wanted and shopped until I found it. Probably paid a little much but still have yet to see an 04 cheaper. The only thing I would change is color. The black looks great but a pain to maintain. Given a choice I would have wanted white.

Seeing those off-Road pictures is making me jealous. There's nowhere here in IL like that! When I was in Sedona in Aug. 1995 I was just roaming around. The pink jeeps had a bunch of trails blocked off with rocks so wider trucks couldn't get through. It also looked like they had improved and graded a bunch of the trails so cars could get to them. I remember one of those was the trail to the Hohokum Indian ruins. It was so hot that the speaker grilles that were held in by some black goo fell right out on the seats.

Funny, I've been thinking I should update with new pics. She's come a long way.

I still need tires though.
