Fuel tank breathers The line on the left is a gas tank overflow drain that drains under the bike when you over fill the gas tank. The right tube is the tank vent that goes to the vapor canister. The vapor canister system has a line to the tank which is the tank vent. Another line goes to the throttle bodies with a solonoid in between. The solenoid opens and the throttle vacuum sucks the fumes out of the charcoal canister.
Remove the Vapor Canister This is the vapor canister which is located under the passenger seat. Remove the seat using your key. You can see the littl air inlet tube on the right side of the canister.
Remove the Vapor Canister 2 small torx screws hold the canister down. Remove both screws.
Remove the Vapor Canister Lift the canister up.
Remove the Vapor Canister Pull the 2 hoses out of the canister.
Remove the Vapor Canister I put the 2 screws back so I don't lose them.
Remove the Vapor Canister I plugged both hoses using a couple of 1/4 - 20 screws. Put some hose clamps or spring clamps on to ensure a good seal.
Remove the Vapor Canister I tied the 2 hoses to the cross piece under the luggage rack.
Remove the Vapor Canister These are the existing drains/ vents exiting at the bottom front of the left side of the bike. The tube with the screw plug comes from the airbox. the next one comes from the radiator expansion tank. The next one comes from the tank gas overflow. The larger diameter tube with the plastic plug is attached to a 'Y' fitting. One side of the Y goes to the fuel tank vent. The other side goes up to the canister vent. You have to remove the big plug to vent the tank.

Remove the Vapor Canister Use a pliers to squeeze and move the spring clip out of the way. Pull the large plug out of the hose. Your tank is now vented.
Remove the Vapor Canister Put a container under the hose because gas will drain out.
Remove the Vapor Canister This is the now open gas tank vent. I wanted to prove that this actually went to the gas tank. With the gas cap open I could blow air into the hose. When I closed the gas cap I couldn't blow any air so this tube definitly vents the gas tank. You have to leave this line open.
